High-level expert meeting on Document Fraud and Biometrics
On 18 October 2022 started the high-level expert meeting on Document Fraud and Biometrics (facial comparisons) at the AFRIPOL HQ to build and strengthen the capacities of African Union law enforcement agencies in these fields of expertise.
- The meeting is organized by in partnership with the German
Federal Police. For the first time, a joint African harmonized standard
in Document Fraud Verification and Biometrics should be defined.
- Took part in this meeting 40 participants from the AUC HQ, Algeria, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Comoros, Congo Brazzavile, Djibouti, Gabon, Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Niger, Rwanda, Sao-Tomé and Principe, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Tchad, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia.
The African Union Mechanism for Police Cooperation (AFRIPOL) is established as a technical institution of the African Union (AU) for police cooperation among Member States.
AFRIPOL functions on the following principles:
- Respect for democratic rule, human rights, the rule of law and good governance in accordance with the Constitutive Act, the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights, the Universal Declaration on Human Rights and other relevant instruments;
- Respect of the Police Ethics, the principles of neutrality, sovereignty, integrity and the presumption of innocence;
