AFRIPOL Hosts Delegation from Rwanda National Police College

The African Union Mechanism for Police Cooperation (AFRIPOL) welcomed a high-level delegation led by Commissioner of Police Christophe Bizimungu, Commandant of the Rwanda National Police College, accompanied by senior police officials from several African countries.

The visit aimed to familiarize the delegation with AFRIPOL’s mandate, institutional framework, and operational role within the African Union architecture. It also provided an opportunity to brief participants on the evolving security landscape across the continent, including emerging trends in transnational organized crime and related threats.

Through a series of presentations and exchanges, AFRIPOL highlighted its key functions in supporting Member States through intelligence sharing, criminal analysis, capacity building, and operational coordination. The visit further enabled discussions on potential avenues for strengthened cooperation, particularly in the areas of training, information exchange, and joint operational support.

This engagement reflects AFRIPOL’s continued efforts to enhance collaboration with national police training institutions and to promote a more coordinated and proactive response to security challenges across Africa.
