AFRIPOL receives the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to strengthen a strategic security partnership

The AFRIPOL Secretariat had the honour of receiving H.E. Mr. DONG Guangli, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Algeria, for a courtesy visit aimed at exchanging views on matters of mutual interest. On this occasion, discussions also addressed the ongoing cooperation project between AFRIPOL and the Ministry of Public Security of the People’s Republic of China, particularly in view of the finalization of a Memorandum of Understanding.
This meeting highlighted a shared recognition of the need to further strengthen international partnerships in response to the evolving nature of transnational organized crime. Exchanges underscored the importance of establishing a structured cooperation framework focused on capacity building, information sharing, and operational support, with a view to enhancing the effectiveness of collective responses.
Both parties expressed their appreciation for the strategic significance of this initiative, which comes at a time of increasing complexity in global security challenges. The cooperation project was recognized as a timely and relevant opportunity to reinforce joint efforts in addressing security threats and contributing to stability across the African continent.
This engagement is fully aligned with AFRIPOL’s mandate to support African Union Member States through enhanced police cooperation, criminal intelligence sharing, and capacity development. It also reflects AFRIPOL’s continued commitment to building strategic partnerships with key international actors in order to promote coordinated and sustainable responses to emerging threats.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to continue technical and institutional consultations towards the finalization and operationalization of the Memorandum of Understanding, for the mutual benefit of both parties and in the interest of collective security.
