AFRIPOL Holds Seventh Meeting of Heads of National Liaison Offices in Cairo Cairo, Egypt, 21–23 June 2026

The African Union Mechanism for Police Cooperation (AFRIPOL) convened the Seventh Meeting of Heads of National Liaison Offices (NLOs) in Cairo, Arab Republic of Egypt, bringing together representatives from African Union Member States, AFRIPOL officials, and international partners to strengthen police cooperation and coordination across the continent. The meeting was graciously hosted by the Government of Egypt, whose continued support and hospitality reaffirm its commitment to advancing African security cooperation.
The opening ceremony was attended by Major General Mahmoud Abou Amra, Deputy Minister for Public Security and Chairman of the Police Supreme Council of Egypt, who reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to supporting continental security cooperation and strengthening collective efforts to address emerging transnational threats.
Held under the theme “Cybercrime and Cybersecurity,” the meeting provided a strategic platform for participants to assess emerging cyber threats, exchange experiences and best practices, and discuss mechanisms for enhancing information sharing and operational cooperation among Member States. Discussions also focused on strengthening national and regional capacities to prevent, detect, and investigate cyber-enabled crimes and other evolving digital threats.
The meeting concluded with renewed commitments to enhance cooperation among National Liaison Offices, strengthen AFRIPOL’s cybercrime initiatives, and support collective efforts to build a secure and resilient digital environment across Africa. AFRIPOL expressed its sincere appreciation to the Government of Egypt and all participants for their valuable contributions to the success of the meeting.
