AFRIPOL hosted the 1st live online session of Basic Facial Feature Imposter Detection Training, on May 6-9, 2024. This session benefited experts from fourteen (14) African member states, including Algeria, Gambia, Eswatini Eritrea, Uganda, Somalia, Rwanda, South Sudan, South Africa, Libya, Malawi, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Liberia.
This training aims to equip African police officers with techniques to detect imposters and verify identities at borders, significantly enhancing their capabilities in preventing and combating transnational organized crime (TOC) and terrorism. By ensuring accurate identification of individuals crossing borders, officers can better intercept potential threats and criminal activities, thereby contributing to the overall security and stability of the region.
