H.E. Ambassador Bankole Adeoye Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security of the African Union Commission visits AFRIPOL Secretariat

H.E. Ambassador Bankole Adeoye, Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security of the African Union Commission, today met with the AFRIPOL Secretariat at its headquarters in Algiers for a strategic engagement on the organization’s mandate, priorities, and contribution to continental security.
During the meeting, the AFRIPOL Secretariat presented an overview of its strategic and operational activities, highlighting its role in supporting African Union Member States in strengthening law enforcement cooperation, operational coordination, criminal intelligence, capacity building, and the prevention and combatting of transnational crime across the continent.
H.E. Commissioner Bankole Adeoye commended AFRIPOL for its continued efforts in supporting law enforcement agencies across Africa in the prevention and combatting of crime, as well as for its capacity-building initiatives aimed at strengthening the operational capabilities of Member States. He reiterated the commitment of the Department of Political Affairs, Peace and Security to support AFRIPOL in fulfilling its mandate and expressed his readiness to continue working closely with the Secretariat to further strengthen its role, improve its visibility, and enhance its impact for the benefit of Member States.
The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of the African Union Commission and AFRIPOL to advancing effective, coordinated, and African-led responses to the continent’s evolving security challenges.
