12th High-Level Seminar on Peace and Security in Africa

The conference was organized by the Department of Political Affairs, Peace and Security (PAPS) of the African Union Commission, in collaboration with the AU Peace and Security Council (PSC) and the African members of the United Nations Security Council (A3+).

The discussions focused on the current peace and security landscape in Africa, the link between the decisions of the Peace and Security Council (PSC) in Addis Ababa and the actions of the A3+ in New York, and strengthening the joint response to terrorism, violent extremism, and political crises. The exchanges also highlighted the need for predictable funding for peace operations and better integration of African security mechanisms into the multilateral architecture. Participants who expressed their views on all the agenda items, demonstrated a strong political concern for the topics under discussion and a sustained commitment to a coherent African position on the international stage.
