Second Session of Basic Online Facial Features for Imposter Detection Training Course

The second session of the Basic Facial Features for Imposter Detection (FFID) training course kicked off on September 2, 2024, on the AFRIPOL eLearning platform, accessible at https://afripol.au-learn.org. This five-day training program is designed to equip frontline police officers with fundamental skills (level 1) in detecting imposters.

This training is crucial for officers responsible for first-line controls, such as border security, and for verifying the identity of individuals during various police checks. As facial comparison becomes an increasingly vital skill in law enforcement, the ability to accurately identify imposters and establish true identities is essential for maintaining security and order.

Organized by AFRIPOL with support from the German Federal Police (GFP), the training runs from September 2 to 6, 2024. Unlike the first session, which was attended by participants from English-speaking countries, this session features 13 participants from French-speaking countries, including Senegal, Cameroon, Niger, Sao Tome and Principe, Guinea Bissau, Cape Verde, Gabon, Togo, Chad, Republic of Congo, Mali, Madagascar, and Comoros.

This initiative reflects AFRIPOL’s commitment to enhancing the capabilities of African police forces by providing specialized training that addresses current and emerging security challenges.
