To enhance cooperation and coordination in training and capacity building among African Union (AU) member states’ police agencies, AFRIPOL organized a two-day intensive interaction. The meeting was held at the Capital Hotel in Addis Ababa from 27th to 28th June 2023. More than thirty delegates, representing the training and capacity building departments of AU member states’ police agencies, actively participated in this event. Additionally, representatives from the German Foreign Affairs Bureau in Addis Ababa, INTERPOL, CEPOL, GIZ, and UNOAU were present. The meeting received funding from GIZ.
The primary objective of this meeting was to identify the most effective training approaches, explore the training and capacity building needs, and design collaborative initiatives for the police agencies of African Union member states. Moreover, the meeting aimed to develop a systematic and structured approach to training needs analysis, thereby enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of the member states’ police organizations through the development of a skilled and knowledgeable workforce.
